ODEMSA Welcomes New Staff Members PDF Print E-mail

ODEMSA would like to welcome two new staff members to the council.

Jordan Rennie

Program Coordinator

Jordan has been in EMS for about ten years starting when he was 17 with Goochland County as a volunteer Firefighter/EMT. He believes the decision, to join a volunteer firehouse, is probably the second most pivotal and wonderful occurrence that’s ever happened to him, overshadowed only by his wife agreeing to hang out with him for life.

Through the years he has worked as a paramedic for the Richmond Ambulance Authority and Henrico Doctors’ Hospital in the ER. The last three years he has spent the majority of his time pursuing a bachelor’s degree, working, and learning how to be a husband. Jordan graduated with a Bachelor’s in Kinesiology from VCU this past May. Soon after, he began a Master of Business Administration program with a concentration in Healthcare Management.

Jordan’s hobbies include learning new languages, reading, using his new smoker/grill, playing with his puppy Obi-wan, and enjoying a lively bouquet of wine. Of particularly exciting news, he and his wife and found out that they are expecting their first child in March 2018, so he will be adding Dad to the list. He has said that he will accept any and all advice on how to go about doing that. Jordan has found himself in a new position outside of the clinical arena and is eager to help improve and facilitate the care given by our providers. He is very proud of the work done by ODEMSA and is looking forward to contributing what he can to that mission!

Ryan Scarbrough, Regional Projects Coordinator

Ryan Scarbrough

Regional Projects Coordinator

Ryan is a Virginia EMT-B who has a wide skills set and and diverse background which includes technology and EMS. Some folks may know him by his nickname “Scooter”. He began his EMS career with Manchester Vol. Rescue for a short stent when he was 16. After finishing high school, he began volunteering with Bensley-Bermuda Vol. Rescue as a Junior Squad Member for many years. He spent three years as an EMT for Richmond Ambulance Authority, and he was also an EMS Supervisor for Kings Dominion for seven years.

Ryan comes to us from the Capital Region Airport Commission which is commissioned to operate the Richmond International Airport. During his time there he was a 911 dispatcher for three years and then moved into the roll of Accounts Payable Clerk and Accounting Assistant for over three more years. He has also worked as an ED Tech at Johnston-Willis Hospital for a few years mainly during his down time from Kings Dominion. He currently volunteers with Lakeside Vol. Rescue Squad where he is the President and has held multiple officer and committee chair positions during his time there. He is also the current VAVRS District 3 Secretary and has represented his squad at the VAVRS Board of Governors meetings for many years.

For now, Ryan lives in Chesterfield and enjoys spending time with friends and family, reading, learning Norwegian, and the occasional quiet night home catching up with the DVR. He is passionate about the advent of sustainable transport and energy production and is a day one reservation holder for the Tesla Model 3. He is also very enthusiastic about space travel (and secretly hopes to be an astronaut one day) and follows SpaceX and the MarsOne Project, both of which are striving to send colonists to mars within the next decade.
